What we collect

• Account: your name, username, email, and the interests you select at sign-up.
• Your content: the places (POIs) you save, trips you build, and the video/reel links you import.
• Imports: when you import a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link (or use the Save to Atlas browser extension), we process the video’s transcript, caption, and description to extract the places mentioned.
• Usage: basic activity and API-usage telemetry used to run and improve the service and keep costs in check.

The browser extension

The optional “Save to Atlas” extension reads the transcript of the YouTube video you choose to save, within your own browser session, and sends it to Atlas to extract places onto your map. It runs only on YouTube pages and on Atlas itself, stores a pairing token in your browser’s local storage to link it to your account, and does not track your browsing history or activity on other sites.

How we use your data

To provide the product — saving places, building trips, extracting places from media, and tuning suggestions to your interests — and to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Service providers

We use trusted processors to run Atlas: Supabase (database and authentication), Railway (hosting), Anthropic and Google (Gemini) for place extraction, Google Places for location details, and social scraping providers for public reel/video metadata. They process data only to provide these functions.

Retention & your choices

You can edit or delete the places and trips you save at any time. To delete your account and associated data, contact us and we will remove it. Raw imported metadata is retained only as long as needed to power your map and is refreshed or removed on a rolling basis.
